Isabella Rae is a New York City based fine artist and painter.
Her body of original fine art depicts public and private spaces devoid of people, including the NYC subway, urban architecture, and interior scenes.
Her work explores how traces left behind in public and private spaces - both of unseen people who have passed through and organic aging processes - create a form of accidentally collaborative art.
Inspired by the contrasting elements of the subway - found in it’s graphic and structured signage and tiling and the unpredictability of drips, stains, and human mark-making - she creates oil paintings that are both geometric and organic, telling the story of what gets left behind through this foil relationship.
Her work can be found in collections across the city, and is available to commission on a limited basis.
